After reading Flourescence

After reading the book, I was amazed at the different writing techniques that the author had done. Especially the first one I saw which was Trace3 on page 1, it was quite interesting how she wrote it in a form of an X. The language was also intriguing  like at the beginning it says, "to make  to make up  she was making or marking something to mock up the maker". That one part was so confusing but interesting because I wanted to know what she was talking about and why. Also after reading the entire poem I started to realize it sound like she was talking about an escaped convict or who thought he got away without being seen. What lead me to that conclusion was key words like x, named, flashed, traced, masked, finger marks, escaped and unnoticed. Very interesting and it got me reading it over and over again. Even in different to see if there was a hidden message in the form of the story. Overall it was a great story and I enjoyed it very much.

The next poem in the book was called what holds the body on page 3. This was the most weird and bizarre written thing I had ever noticed. you have these whole pages with only little written on them and the language is confusing and misunderstanding as well. Like you have one page with four lines on it; then you have one with one word on it and the rest with a little more then the first. The page with the one word was the most shocking part because I didn't understand why the light being orange was such a big deal that she had to put the word orange on its own page. Its almost seemed as if the character was hiding from someone as you read the rest of the story. What made me think that was when on page 7 she said, SHHHHHHHH! It is here now, wobbling, advancing, my own, breath, gulps and gasps then settles down. Like the bad person had walked passed them and they was making sure no one noticed them. I think it ended the way it did because they ended up not getting caught. It was a good and confusing story for myself to read but I enjoyed it very much.

The last reading that caught my eye was titled * in part one on page 11. This whole poem/story confused me the most. I was trying to catch on to what was being said but I couldn't grasp the concept. The first half starts by I want to begin at the beginning the beginning of begin and just begin voice beginning to rise beginning to just voice the beginning of. Now that part was making sense up until it started talking about the voice that through me off and then it continued with more words. Like the rain and the snow and tough less and speaking and starting. Its all confusing but if I had to make a guess about the story and what it was about. I would probable say about an individual who have trouble making speeches and always find there self lost of words and not know what to say and how to say it. Or just even being scared at the fact that they have to do a speech in front of people and it scares them that if the mess up they probably wont be able to start from the beginning. I enjoy being confused by the wording and the point of view of the story/ poem. The book was really good and quite interesting and i would definitely recommend it to others to read.

Wreckage of Reason, and Fiction Packet 3

There were two poems that stuck out to me for the reading for this week. The first story I want to discussed is in wreckage of reason on page 72 titled New York/LA whirlwind romance. the title it self explain what is going on in the story. I love this story because it kept me interested and guessing what exactly is wrong with this guy. I mean its about a phone conversation two individuals have who never met each other, but the only words written down is from the men. Its things he said before they met in person and after. Just by reading the dialogue I get the feeling that this guy is not very good in relationships and he is a older guy that wants to control the person he dates, he tends to be sarcastic about a lot of things and its like he is constantly trying to reassure his self that meeting this girl will be fine. Like on page 73 at the very bottom he says, "I think it's going to be fine." "I think it's going to be more than fine." "I think it's going to be great." Its like he know its not gone be fine because he know how he is in relationship but he wants to make his self believe it is. Then before he meets her he say all types of nice things to her like on page 73 again he says "I think your brilliant writer." "I love your voice." "I think you're swell". Then as soon as he meets her he get arrogant and kind of mean with the things he say to her. On page 75 he states, "Someday you'll write something real. Not just ......"; then on page 76 and 77 he say, "Am I deaf or do you keep mumbling?" "You eat like a junkie." "The best thing about you coming is I finally cleaned my house." then at the very end of the story he states "I'm actually a really incredible guy." this guy was just unpredictable with some of the things he said throughout the story and I believe he definitely had some self esteem issues. All together it was a great story and a little funny at times too.

The next story was in the 3rd fiction packet call The Singing Fish, the second story in the packet. After reading this story I'm confused on so many levels I don't even know where to start. The story was little weird to me and I couldn't quite understand what was being said. A lot of the words kept being repeated which I didn't understand. Like in the first half when the story starts off it talks about the girl sleeping and the brothers picture her as a cave and in the cave they see fish swimming, but not just normal fish stick figure fish. Then they say, " these fish, stick- scrawled across made-out-of-mud walls--these fishes--they are pictures of us."Now them saying that got me thinking that do these brothers wish that they were the fish and this what they would look like and be. Then the moon came into the picture and the brothers hand which confused me too. Also they kept referring to they see, like who is this "They" the brothers are referring too. Then right after that story its the story of What our mother always told us. Which confused me a little more but not really. I think they block out the negative things there mother say because they see her as this sweet person and only listen as if she is speaking the kindest words. Also in the first story of the packet called when it rains it rains a river the brothers talk about a girl as if they want a sister for the both of them. It states on page 6 "Inside each mirror, we see girl, other than girl, gazed back at us. These girls other than girl, these other girls--these girls are girl's sisters. There is a sister, we see, for each of us brothers". These statements made me feel as if these brother was trying to fill a void in there life. Like having sisters because they have never experienced anything like that before. It was an interesting story to read and it can be interpreted in many ways.

I really enjoyed reading this weeks stories. They were well written especially the stories in wreckage to reason. There was a quite few I enjoyed and I'm sure others have as well. The cottage life was one that I thought was interesting also. I enjoyed it all hope to read more great stories.
